100일·1주년은 어떻게 셀까? — 당일 포함 관습과 계산 예시
연인 사이에서 자주 챙기는 사귄 지 100일은 두 사람이 사귀기 시작한 날을 1일째로 포함해서 세는 것이 국내에서 흔한 관습입니다. 이 방식으로 세면 100일째는 시작일에 99일을 더한 날이 됩니다. 예를 들어 2026년 1월 1일에 사귀기 시작했다면, 100일째는 1월 1일+99일인 2026년 4월 10일이 됩니다. 만약 당일을 포함하지 않고 다음 날부터 세는 방식을 쓰면 100일째는 하루 늦은 2026년 4월 11일이 되므로, 두 계산법이 하루 차이가 난다는 점을 알아두면 혼동을 줄일 수 있습니다.
1주년(사귄 지 1년)은 100일과 달리 날짜 수를 세기보다 1년 후 같은 날짜를 기준으로 삼는 경우가 대부분입니다. 예를 들어 3월 1일에 사귀기 시작했다면 다음 해 3월 1일이 1주년이 되는 식으로, 윤년 여부와 무관하게 달력상 같은 월·일로 계산하는 것이 일반적입니다.
이러한 셈법은 법으로 정해진 규칙이 아니라 오래전부터 이어져 온 문화적 관습입니다. 한국에서는 전통적으로 유아 사망률이 높던 시절, 아이가 태어난 지 백일(百日)과 첫 돌(만 1세)을 무사히 넘긴 것을 축하하며 가족·친지가 모여 잔치를 여는 풍습이 있었고, 이 '백일·돌잔치' 문화가 오늘날 연인들이 100일·1주년을 챙기는 관습에도 영향을 준 것으로 이야기됩니다.

Korean observances are national days that aren't public holidays but are marked every year, like Workers' Day, Parents' Day, and Teachers' Day. Fun days are couple/friend dates such as Valentine's Day, White Day, and Pepero Day. International days are widely known worldwide, such as International Women's Day, Earth Day, and Halloween.
Counting "100 days" and "1 year" — the inclusive-counting convention
In Korea, a couple's 100th day together is commonly counted by including the start date itself as day 1, so the 100th day falls 99 days after the start date. Starting on January 1, 2026, for example, day 100 lands on April 10, 2026 — one day earlier than if you started counting from the day after.
A 1-year anniversary is usually marked by the same calendar date one year later, regardless of leap years, rather than by counting exact elapsed days.
These customs are cultural, not legally defined, and are said to echo the older Korean tradition of celebrating a baby's 100th day (baegil) and first birthday (dol) — milestones once celebrated when infant mortality made reaching them a meaningful occasion.
