What is the Ladder Game?

A traditional game (Amidakuji) that connects participants to outcomes through randomly drawn horizontal rungs on a ladder, so each participant ends up with exactly one outcome. Commonly used for assigning duties, prizes, or turn order.

How to use it

Pick a player count, then fill in the name slots above the ladder and the outcome slots below it. Click Start ladder to shuffle the outcomes face-down and draw the rungs. Then click a name to trace that participant's path — only their card flips open. Use Reveal all to finish the rest at once, Retry to reshuffle with the same players, or Start over to reset.

How matching works

The moment you press start, the outcome list is shuffled with a cryptographically secure Fisher-Yates shuffle (crypto.getRandomValues), and the ladder's horizontal rungs are placed with the same randomness — mathematically equivalent to a real ladder game, a uniformly random permutation that stays hidden until each participant is clicked.

How does the ladder game decide outcomes?
Pressing Start shuffles the outcome list with cryptographic randomness, hides every card face-down, and draws the rungs. Clicking a participant's name traces their path down the ladder, and only their card flips open — nobody's result is known until it's clicked.
Why is the Start ladder button disabled?
The button stays disabled until every name and outcome slot for the selected player count is filled in.
What's the maximum number of participants?
This tool supports 2 to 8 participants, suited for small group activities.
