Random Picker & Team Maker

Pick winners at random and split into teams.

Winners

What are Random Picker & Group Split?

Random Picker selects a set number of winners at random from a list of participants — useful for prize drawings, presentation order, or assigning duties fairly. Group Split mode divides every participant into evenly sized groups at random, based on either the number of groups or the size of each group.

    How to use it

Choose Random Picker or Group Split mode at the top. For Draw mode, enter Participants and the number to pick, then click Draw. For Group Split, enter participants, choose a split basis (by group count or group size) and a number, then run it to see each group's members. Use Redraw to get a fresh random result instantly.

    The algorithm

Uses the Fisher-Yates shuffle to randomize the full list. Draw mode then takes the first N entries; Group Split mode distributes the shuffled list evenly across groups (remainders go to the earliest groups, one each). Randomness comes from the browser's cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), so every permutation is equally likely, giving an unbiased result.

How is the draw kept fair?
This tool uses the Fisher-Yates shuffle to randomize the participant list, then takes the top N — every position is equally likely for every participant, so the draw is unbiased.
Can the same person be picked twice?
No, each participant can be selected at most once per draw. Click Redraw to try a fresh random order.
What happens if I ask for more winners than participants?
The number to pick is capped at the total participant count.
If the group split isn't even, how are leftover people assigned?
Participants are shuffled at random, then distributed as evenly as possible; any remainder is assigned one at a time starting from group 1. For example, splitting 5 people into 2 groups gives 3 and 2.
What's the difference between "by group count" and "by group size"?
"By group count" lets you set how many groups to create. "By group size" lets you set how many people go in each group, and the number of groups is calculated automatically from the total participant count.
