Known limitations
- Income tax approximation — payroll calculators use an annualized approximation instead of the full NTS withholding table; results may differ from actual withholding. Marked with an "approximate" badge on each page.
- Month approximation — the date-difference tool approximates months by 30.44 days; the gap versus calendar months grows over longer spans.
- Exchange rates — "Today's rate" uses daily-updated reference rates (Exchange Rate API; ECB as fallback), which differ from bank quoted rates. Not an intraday live feed; the update time is shown. Use Manual mode for real transactions.
- Embedding allowed — frame-blocking headers are intentionally not applied so tools can be embedded in blogs; with no login or payment on this site, there is nothing for clickjacking to steal.
- SWIFT code data as of — Bank SWIFT/BIC codes and English addresses reflect data as of 2026-07-15 and may differ due to bank mergers or renaming. Always reconfirm with the bank's official channel before an international transfer.
- PDF tool limitations — PDF merge, split, compress and convert do not support encrypted (password-protected) PDFs (an error is shown on load). Compression's strong mode re-encodes pages as images, so original text selection/search is lost (safe mode is lossless). Large PDF files may process slowly or fail on mobile devices depending on device memory.
- Address search API dependency — the zip code and English address tools rely on Korea's road-name address API (juso.go.kr); search may be temporarily unavailable during API outages. The detailed English address assembly is for reference only — please reconfirm before submitting official documents.
- Base rate as of decision date — the base rate history/current tool reflects the level as of the 2026-07-16 collection date and may change with future Bank of Korea Monetary Policy Board decisions. Always confirm the latest figure via the Bank of Korea's official announcements (bok.or.kr).
August 2026
- 2026-08-03 — Five calculation fixes (important). An external code review surfaced calculation errors, now corrected. If you have used the tools below, please re-check your figures.
- Property tax — The reduced fair-market ratio for a single-home household (45%) was applied even above the 900M KRW assessed-value cap, understating the tax base. The reduction is now capped as the law prescribes.
- Capital gains tax — For multi-home owners selling housing held under two years, the non-housing rate (50%/40%) was applied instead of the housing rate (70%/60%). A new "Asset type" field now determines the short-term rate.
- Gift tax — The marriage/childbirth deduction (up to 100M KRW) applied regardless of the donor relationship. It only applies to gifts from a lineal ascendant, so other relationships now disable the option and explain why.
- Unemployment benefit — Amounts appeared even with zero insured period or zero wage. The tool now checks eligibility (180 insured days within the 18 months before leaving) and shows the reason instead of a figure.
- Severance pay — Amounts were produced pro rata even under one year of continuous service, which is not a statutory entitlement. The tool now says so (service days are still shown).
- 2026-08-03 — No more waiting in image & PDF tools. Removed the roughly two-second loading screen that delayed the result view across 15 image and PDF tools. Results now appear as soon as processing finishes; the loading screen shows only when work actually takes time.
- 2026-08-03 — FAQs expanded by default. FAQ sections on tool and guide pages now start expanded instead of collapsed, so answers are visible without clicking through.
- 2026-08-02 — Rate sourcing cleanup. Constants previously tagged "unconfirmed" or "estimated" were checked against the statutes. Property-tax urban-area rate (0.14%), annual car-tax prepayment discount (5%), acquisition-tax surcharges (8%/12%) and the employment-insurance rate (0.9%) are all fixed by law and the figures in use were already correct — only the citations were added. Electricity unit prices remain marked "unverified" pending a primary-source check.
- 2026-08-02 — Privacy hardening. Result-sharing links carry your inputs, and opening such a link could pass those values to analytics. Analytics now records the address with the shared payload stripped out.
July 2026
- 2026-07-30 — New look & faster loading. The whole site got a "grid-paper notebook" redesign — a subtle grid background with ballpoint-blue and red-pen accents, and highlighter marks on result numbers. Dark mode was retuned to match. We also made the first screen load noticeably faster and eliminated layout shifts.
- 2026-07-27 — New front page. The home page now shows the full directory of all seven sections instead of the calculator list. Calculators moved to /cal/, and the old /all/ address now redirects to the home page. The "All" and "Calculators" tabs in the top menu point to the new structure.
- 2026-07-20 — Site-wide copy polish & FAQ cleanup. Polished Korean copy across tool, guide and hub pages, and reconciled about 30 pages where the on-page FAQ and the structured-data (FAQ) markup had drifted apart. Fixed a rendering bug where emphasis and links in some guides showed up as raw code characters, and added visible FAQ sections to 105 auto-generated pages (yearly rates, severance, loan and SWIFT-code pages) that previously carried FAQs only in structured data.
- 2026-07-21 — "Continue with" rail. Tool chaining (e.g., net pay → severance or year-end tax) is now a sticky card on the right side of the page, visible from load — including with default sample values. Applied across all 10 chained tools.
- 2026-07-21 — Home & search UX refresh. Search moved to a header icon with a full-screen overlay available on every page (press /). The home top area now groups recently used (up to 5) and popular tools (up to 10) into a single band, section tabs are always visible on mobile, and horizontal lists scroll by arrows, drag, or swipe — no scrollbars.
- 2026-07-20 — Popular tools slider. Added a popularity slider to the home page and six section pages (Text, Dev, Image, Games, Tests, Misc), ranked by unique users over the last 28 days, with under-sampled slots filled by editors' picks. No autoplay; browse by swipe or arrows only. Rankings use aggregated Google Analytics statistics with no personally identifiable data.
- 2026-07-19 — 25 guides & second content pass. Expanded concept guides from 15 to 25 articles (retirement pension DB/DC/IRP, jeonse deposit protection, brokerage fee rates, property & comprehensive real-estate tax, gift tax, annual car-tax prepayment, BMI, compound interest and the rule of 72, DSR/DTI/LTV, freelancer 3.3% withholding — each citing official sources with an as-of date and verified calculations). Deepened 40 more tools (80 total) with worked examples and verified figures, added a usage intro to the home page, a "Guides" item to the top menu, and an operator & updates section to the About page.
- 2026-07-17 — Content expansion. Added guide intros to 35 category/group hub pages, and substantially expanded 40 tools that previously had thin descriptions with page-specific worked examples, verification figures, and FAQs. Expanded concept guides from 5 to 15 articles (each citing official sources and an as-of date), and added a section to the About page describing our content operations and review policy.
- 2026-07-16 — New tools: insurance rate, income tax rate, and base rate history archives. Added three tools that let you look up Korea's four social insurance rates (national pension, health insurance, long-term care, employment insurance), income tax bracket revisions, and Bank of Korea base rate changes by year from 2017 through 2026. Each tool ships with 30 year-specific pages, and the data was cross-checked against official sources including the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the National Tax Service, and the Bank of Korea.
- 2026-07-16 — Added comparison (A vs B) mode. Added a "Single / Compare (A vs B)" tab to the net pay, loan interest, and deposit/savings interest calculators. Line up two scenarios side by side — negotiating a salary, switching loans, or comparing savings products — and see the difference at a glance. Calculation history, sharing, and tool chaining remain single-mode only.
- 2026-07-16 — Added tool chaining. Added chain buttons to 9 tool pairs so you can carry your result straight into a related calculator: net pay → severance pay, year-end tax, overtime pay; severance pay → unemployment benefit; minimum wage → weekly pay; acquisition tax ↔ brokerage fee; jeonse-to-monthly conversion → brokerage fee; mortgage limit → loan interest; loan interest ↔ prepayment fee. The chain button only appears after you've actually entered values and calculated a result.
- 2026-07-16 — New tools: Zip code / road-name address search + English address converter. Added a tool to search addresses by road name, lot number, or building name and look up the postal code, plus a tool that converts the searched address into English. Uses Korea's road-name address API (juso.go.kr); search terms are sent to juso.go.kr (not stored by calqu). The zip code search chains directly into the English address converter.
- 2026-07-15 — New tools: PDF suite (merge, split, compress, convert). Added tools to merge multiple PDFs in order, split a PDF by page range, compress with a strong (re-encoded) or safe (lossless) mode, and convert bidirectionally between images and PDF. Built on locally/dynamically bundled pdf-lib (MIT) and pdf.js (Apache-2.0) for 100% in-browser processing; encrypted PDFs are unsupported and strong compression loses text selection.
- 2026-07-15 — New tool: Bank SWIFT code lookup. Added a lookup tool for SWIFT/BIC codes and English addresses of 24 Korean banks (20 with SWIFT, 4 without), plus 24 per-bank landing pages. Data as of 2026-07-15 — please reconfirm with your bank before transferring.
- 2026-07-14 — Trust & transparency. Basis badges (method / year / official sources) on 20 policy calculators, daily auto-updated rates with manual mode on the currency converter (source switched same day to Exchange Rate API, updated each morning KST; ECB kept as fallback), security headers and security.txt, share improvements, and copy fixes across payroll, privacy and date tools.
- 2026-07-13 — PWA & salary landings. Service worker, 81 salary landing pages, unified tax constants.
- 2026-07-12 — IA overhaul. New Misc section, /all/ directory — 169 tools across 7 sections, 15 categories.
- 2026-07-11 — Six-section expansion. Text, developer, image, game and test sections (125 tools); legal documents revised.
- 2026-07-09 — Launch. Initial calculator-focused release; automated end-to-end verification (Playwright) for all tools.
