What is EXIF?

EXIF is metadata embedded in photo files that can include the camera maker/model, date taken, exposure/ISO/focal length, orientation, and sometimes the GPS location where the photo was taken.

Why GPS exposure is risky

If GPS coordinates remain in a photo, the exact location it was taken (home, workplace, etc.) can be revealed. Remove EXIF (including GPS) before posting photos on social media or marketplaces.

How removal works

The original image is drawn onto a browser canvas and re-encoded as a new file. This process strips all EXIF metadata that was present in the original.

Privacy & safety

Viewing, removing, and downloading all happen entirely in your browser — files are never uploaded or stored on a server.

What is EXIF?
EXIF is metadata stored inside photo files, including camera maker/model, date taken, exposure/ISO/focal length, orientation, and sometimes GPS location. Most digital cameras and smartphones record it automatically.
Why is exposed GPS data risky?
If GPS coordinates remain in a photo, the exact location where it was taken (home, workplace, etc.) can be revealed. Remove EXIF including GPS before sharing photos publicly.
How is EXIF removed?
The original image is drawn onto a browser canvas and re-encoded as a new image file. This re-encoding strips all EXIF metadata (camera info, timestamps, GPS, etc.) from the original.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Viewing, removing, and downloading all happen in your browser only — nothing is sent or stored on a server.
