Files never leave your device · Processed in your browser

Open HWP and Word files without Hangul or Word

Installing Hangul (Hancom Office) or Word just to read a file you received is a hassle. With only a browser, this tool draws .hwp, .hwpx and .docx documents page by page, with zoom and print (save as PDF). Files are processed only on your device.

The Hangul engine (about 10 MB) is downloaded once on first use and cached by the browser. Word (.docx) files use a light library (about 0.2 MB) that loads right away.

How to use

Choose or drop a .hwp, .hwpx or .docx file. For Hangul files, use Prev/Next or the page box to move and −, +, Fit, 100% to resize; Word files scroll instead, with the same zoom controls. To print or keep a PDF, press Print · Save as PDF and pick "Save as PDF" instead of a printer. A single Hangul page can be saved as an image with Save this page as PNG.

Things to keep in mind

This is view only; you cannot edit or save the document. Without the original fonts, substitute fonts are used, so line and page breaks may differ — check submission documents in Hangul or Word. Password-protected Hangul files open after you enter the password. The old .doc format is not supported; re-save it as .docx in Word. Links inside Word documents keep only http, https and mail addresses; scripts and the like are removed.

Note: Files over 100 MB may open slowly or fail.

Can I open HWP files without Hangul?
Yes. Drop a .hwp or .hwpx file on this page and it opens right in the browser, page by page. You do not need Hangul (Hancom Office); it is view only, so you cannot edit the content.
Can it open Word (.docx) files too?
Yes. Drop a .docx file and it opens in the browser without Word, and you can save it as PDF through print. It is view only, and fonts, line breaks and page breaks may differ slightly from Word.
Can it open the old .doc format?
No. Open the file in Word, re-save it as .docx, then upload it here.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Everything from reading the file to drawing it happens inside your browser; nothing is sent or stored. Only the parsing library is downloaded once when you first open a file (about 10 MB for Hangul).
The fonts or line breaks differ from the original.
On devices without the original fonts, similar substitutes are used, so character widths and line breaks can differ slightly. For documents where page count or table layout matters, check the final result in Hangul or Word.
How do I save as PDF?
Press the print button above; after the pages are drawn the browser print dialog opens. Choose "Save as PDF" instead of a printer. For a single Hangul page as an image, use the PNG button.
What about files that will not open or ask for a password?
For password-protected Hangul documents, enter the password when prompted. Damaged files, files other than .hwp, .hwpx or .docx, and very old formats may not open; try re-saving them in Hangul or Word.
