QR Code Reader

Scan a QR code with your camera or from an image file — decoded locally, nothing uploaded.

What is a QR code reader?

Upload a photo or screenshot of a QR code, or point your camera at one, and the contents are decoded right away. Web addresses show the domain in large type; Wi-Fi details, phone, SMS, email and contact cards are split into labelled fields. Anything else is shown as plain text you can copy.

How to use

Open a file with Choose image or drag and drop, or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V and it is decoded immediately. Scan with camera stops as soon as a code is read and shows the result. Links are never opened automatically; press Open to load one in a new tab.

Privacy and safety

Images and camera video are never uploaded or stored; they are processed only inside this browser. Still, you cannot tell who made a QR code, so check the domain first if you do not know the source.

Note: this tool reads QR codes only. Product barcodes are not supported.
How do I read a QR code in a screenshot?
Drop the screenshot onto this page or pick it with the Choose image button. If the image is on your clipboard, just press Ctrl+V (or paste on a phone). If a photo has several QR codes, all of them are listed when your browser supports it.
The camera will not start.
The camera only works on https pages and you must allow camera access when the browser asks. If you denied it once, change the camera to Allow in the site settings next to the address bar and reload. If another app is using the camera or the device has none, read an image file instead.
My QR code is not recognized.
Get close so the code fills at least half of the frame, and hold steady in good light. The code needs a white margin around it, and glare, creases or heavy blur lower the success rate. An unscaled original screenshot reads best.
Are my photos or camera video uploaded?
No. Decoding images and camera video happens entirely inside your browser; nothing is sent to or stored on a server.
Can it read barcodes too?
This tool reads QR codes only. Product barcodes (EAN, UPC, Code128 and so on) are not supported.
Is it safe to open a link from an unknown QR code?
You cannot tell who created the address inside a QR code. This tool never opens links automatically and shows the domain in large type. If the source is unclear, check the address first and be extra careful with pages that ask you to log in or pay.
