What is a pay timer?

The pay timer shows how much you have earned today, down to the second, from your monthly or annual pay and your clock-in and clock-out times. Before you clock in it starts at zero, it climbs steadily while you work, and once your clock-out time passes it stays at your full daily pay.

A salary is paid once a month, so it is hard to feel what a single day is worth. Seeing today's earnings, and what builds up each hour, minute and second, makes the value of your time easier to grasp.

How it is calculated

Daily pay is monthly pay divided by the number of working days in a month. If you enter an annual salary it is divided by 12 first and then treated the same way. Earnings so far are the daily pay multiplied by the share of the shift that has already passed.

Daily pay is spread evenly across the whole span from clock-in to clock-out. Lunch breaks are part of that span, so the number rises at the same pace the entire time. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the shift is treated as an overnight shift ending the next day.

Pick the currency you are paid in: KRW, USD, JPY or CNY. No exchange rate is applied; the pay is simply counted in the currency you choose. Switching currency leaves an amount you typed untouched, so adjust it to match.

Whether the figure is before or after tax depends entirely on what you enter. To see the amount after tax and insurance, check your monthly take-home pay with the Net Salary Calculator and enter that figure as the monthly pay.

For reference only: actual pay depends on your contract, allowances and deductions. The figures here are simple estimates based on what you enter.
Tips

Keep the window open during work hours to see at a glance how much of your day a task is using. It also works for checking what a meeting adds up to, or how much is left until you clock out.

If you are paid hourly, enter your expected monthly pay and set the days you actually work. Your inputs are saved only in this browser, so the next visit starts with the same settings.

How is daily pay calculated?
Daily pay is monthly pay divided by the working days in a month. If you enter an annual salary, it is divided by 12 first and then calculated the same way. That daily pay is spread evenly over the time from clock-in to clock-out to get what you have earned so far.
Should I enter pre-tax or after-tax pay?
The figure is calculated exactly as entered, so a pre-tax amount gives a pre-tax result and an after-tax amount gives an after-tax result. To see what actually reaches your bank account, enter the monthly take-home pay from the Net Salary Calculator.
Does it work for night shifts that cross midnight?
Yes. If clock-out is earlier than clock-in, it is treated as clock-out on the next day. For example, 22:00 to 06:00 counts as an 8-hour shift, and after midnight the shift that began the previous evening is shown as still in progress.
Are my inputs kept after a refresh or a later visit?
Yes. The pay, working days and clock-in and clock-out times are stored only in this browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to a server, and pressing the reset button also clears the saved values.
Can I use it for pay in dollars, yen or yuan?
Yes. Choose KRW, USD, JPY or CNY under Pay currency and every figure is shown in that currency. No exchange rate is applied, so enter the amount in the currency you are actually paid in. USD and CNY are shown to two decimal places, KRW and JPY as whole numbers.
What about weekends and holidays?
The tool does not check whether today is a working day. It simply follows the clock-in and clock-out times you set, so on days off treat the rising number as a rough guide only, and enter only the days you actually work in the monthly working days field.
