What is the GIF maker?
Bundle several images into a looping animated GIF, or cut a chosen clip from a video and turn it into a GIF. Reading the files and encoding the GIF all happen inside your browser — nothing is uploaded to a server.
Making a GIF from images
Add several images, then reorder them in the list by dragging or with the up/down buttons. Set the time per image (ms), width, repeat and background color, and the preview above plays the result right away. Images of different sizes are centered using the aspect ratio of the first image, and leftover space and transparent areas are filled with the background color.
Making a GIF from video
Add a video to get a player, then pick the clip with the start and end sliders. A clip can be up to 15 seconds; a higher frame rate (5-15 fps) is smoother but larger. Frames are read one by one, so long or large clips can take tens of seconds — progress is shown on screen and you can cancel at any time.
Keeping the file small
A GIF grows almost in proportion to frame count x width x height, and photos or video with many colors grow more. Watch the estimated size above the button and reduce the width, lower the frame rate or shorten the clip. The estimate is approximate, so the real file may differ.
Privacy & safety
Your images and videos are never uploaded or stored. The GIF encoder is a file bundled with this site (MIT license) and no external service is called.
