Omok (Gomoku)

Omok (five-in-a-row) — play vs AI or two players.

Your turn (Black) Moves: 0

What is this?

Omok (Gomoku) is played on a 15×15 board where two players alternate placing stones. The first to line up 5 stones in a row — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — wins. Use the Mode control to play vs AI (against the computer) or 2 players (two people taking turns on one device).

How to play

Click any intersection to place a stone at the nearest point. In vs AI you play Black and the computer replies with White automatically; in 2 players both people alternate placing Black and White. The game ends the moment either side completes 5 in a row. Use Undo to take back the last move (two stones vs AI, one in 2 players), or New game to restart. Changing the mode starts a new game.

How does the computer AI play?

On each turn the computer scores every empty point by counting consecutive stones for itself and its opponent, and whether the line is open on either end. It immediately blocks the opponent's 4-in-a-row, prioritizes completing its own 4-in-a-row, and also responds to open 3-in-a-rows.

What are the rules of Omok?
The first player to line up 5 stones in a row — horizontally, vertically, or diagonally — wins. In vs AI you play Black first and the computer plays White; in 2 players, two people alternate Black and White on one device.
How do I switch between vs AI and 2 players?
Use the 'Mode' control above the board to pick vs AI (against the computer) or 2 players (two people on one device). Changing the mode starts a new game. Difficulty (Easy·Normal·Hard) applies only in vs AI.
How many times can I undo?
Undo takes back the last move (two stones in vs AI, one in 2 players). There is no limit — use it as often as you like during a game.
How strong is the computer?
It's a rule-based AI that scores every empty point by counting consecutive stones and open ends for both sides. It immediately blocks a 4-in-a-row threat, prioritizes completing its own 4-in-a-row, and also responds to open 3s.
Is any data stored on a server?
No. The entire game runs only in your browser and no data is ever sent to a server.
