What is this?
The Apple Game is a timed puzzle where you drag-select numbered apples on a grid — if the selected numbers add up to exactly 10, they disappear. Clear as many apples as you can before time runs out.
How to play
Press and drag (mouse or touch) to draw a rectangle over the apples. The running total updates live as you drag. Release when the sum is exactly 10 to clear the selected apples and add to your score. If the sum isn't 10, nothing happens. Each round lasts 120 seconds.

The math of summing to 10 — pairs and larger combos
Apple values are random integers from 1 to 9. With exactly two apples, there are only five pairs that sum to 10: (1,9), (2,8), (3,7), (4,6), (5,5). But any group of three or more apples counts too, as long as the total is exactly 10 — for example 1+2+3+4=10 or 1+2+7=10. Widening your drag to cover more apples opens up far more valid combinations than hunting for two-apple pairs alone.
Scoring strategy and this tool's map size options
A common strategy in this genre is to clear the apples along the edges first. Edge apples have fewer neighboring cells to combine with, so they get harder to use as the board thins out — clearing them early leaves the more flexible, combination-rich apples near the center for later. This tool offers four map sizes: Small (9×6 = 54 cells), Medium (12×8 = 96 cells, the default), Large (15×10 = 150 cells), and Huge (18×12 = 216 cells). More cells mean more apples and more chances to find a combo, but also a bigger board to scan within the 120-second limit. Your chosen size is saved in your browser and carries over to your next game.
