Dead Pixel Test

Full-color screens to check for dead or stuck pixels.

Press Start to enter fullscreen — the entire screen fills with one solid color. At each color, examine every corner of the screen for a dot that differs from the surrounding color.

Press Start to begin fullscreen testing from the first color (Red).

What is this?

A dead pixel is a spot on an LCD screen that never lights up correctly and stays dark, while a stuck pixel lights up brightly only under certain colors. Filling the whole screen with one solid color and visually scanning for a mismatched dot is the simplest and most reliable check.

How to use it

Press Start to enter fullscreen; the screen fills in order: Red → Green → Blue → White → Black → Gray. Click the screen or press the Right/Down arrow to advance, Left/Up arrow to go back, and Esc to exit anytime. Check every corner and the center of the screen at each color.

Note: Choose a gray brightness of 25/50/75% from the dropdown above to spot subtle blemishes.
Reading the results

A bright dot on the black screen suggests a stuck pixel; a dark or mismatched dot on white or another solid color suggests a dead pixel. If the same spot shows up across multiple colors, it's likely a real pixel defect — check the manufacturer's return/exchange policy soon after purchase.

What's the difference between a dead pixel and a stuck pixel?
A dead pixel stays dark under any color and never lights up, while a stuck pixel lights up brightly only under specific colors (red, green, blue, etc). A bright dot on a black screen suggests a stuck pixel; a dark dot on white or another bright solid color suggests a dead pixel.
How does the test work?
Pressing Start switches to fullscreen and fills the entire screen with one color. Click the screen or use the arrow keys to cycle through Red, Green, Blue, White, Black, and Gray, checking every corner of the screen at each color for a dot that differs from its surroundings.
Fullscreen isn't working.
Some browsers only allow fullscreen requests triggered by a direct user action (a click). Try pressing Start again, and check whether your browser is blocking popups or fullscreen permission. Even without fullscreen, the test still works by filling the visible viewport with a solid color.
Can I adjust the gray screen's brightness?
Yes. Choose a gray level of 25%, 50%, or 75% from the dropdown before starting. Gray is useful for spotting subtle blemishes or color variance, so it's recommended to check multiple brightness levels.
